This vacation rental is located in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania, where it is situated on a wooded property just a short walk away from the lake after which the community is named. Set in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, the rental is surrounded in all directions by over 150,000 acres of state parks, state forests, state game lands, nature preserves, and conservation areas, encompassing a vast landscape of northern hardwood forests, wetlands, lakes, streams, and rivers. In less than 45 minutes, guests will be able to reach six state parks, six nature preserves, and two state forests, along with three ski areas, two golf courses, and an indoor waterpark.
About 20 miles to the southwest, guests will find Hickory Run State Park, which boasts more than 40 miles of hiking trails and nearly 16,000 acres of diverse natural environments, wildlife populations, and geographical features, including sphagnum moss bogs, beech and chestnut oak forests, trout streams, a 25-foot-tall waterfall, and an emergent swamp overshadowed by spruce trees, all of which provide habitats for scarlet tanagers, eastern bluebirds, hermit thrushes, Jefferson salamanders, white-tailed deer, and black bears.
The park is also home to Boulder Field, a National Natural Landmark that is exactly what it sounds like: a large field completely covered in boulders left by a glacier 20,000 years ago. Covering about 16.5 acres, the field presents visitors with a unique, other-worldly terrain made entirely of stone, devoid of all signs of life, save for the verdant forest that surrounds it.
Other nearby state parks include Lehigh Gorge, Tobyhanna, Big Pocono, Beltzville, and Gouldsboro, highlights of which include the Lehigh River, which is a popular area for whitewater boating and home to blue herons and kingfishers; the 1,600-acre Black Bear and Bender Swamps Natural Area, which provides a habitat for rare plants and animals; the 2,133-foot-tall Camelback Mountain, from the top of which guests can enjoy scenic views of three states at the same time; and the 949-acre Beltzville Lake, which is a popular site for boating, swimming, and fishing.
For even more enjoyment of the great outdoors, guests can visit the Beaver Creek, Lost Lakes, Halfmoon Lake, Fern Ridge Bog, and Thomas Darling nature preserves, as well as Pinchot State Forest and Weiser State Forest, where guests will find tickets of blueberry bushes, glacial lakes, beaver ponds, bald eagle habitats, spruce swamps, and many other points of interest.
Other attractions in the area include Jack Frost Ski Resort, Camelback Mountain Resort, Jack Frost National Golf Club, Split Rock Golf Club, Big Boulder Ski Area, and H2Oooohh Indoor Waterpark, the last two of which are both just five minutes away. The vacation rental is about an hour and 40 minutes from Newark, where the nearest international airport is located. Read More
