This rustic cabin just steps from the water on Patterson Bay near Springfield, Illinois, can accommodate up to eight guests. There are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the three other bedrooms each have two twin beds. Both bathrooms include a toilet, a sink, and a combination shower and bathtub. The master bathroom also houses the laundry facilities with a full-size washer and dryer.
This cabin boasts a woodsy theme throughout with its finished log interior, game trophies, and country decor. It’s the perfect getaway for a large family or two families that love and appreciate the outdoors. It can make a great location from which to launch fishing trips to the Illinois River and the many surrounding lakes. Being so close to the water, guests can literally walk right off the deck and go fishing in the bay.
When guests aren’t out enjoying the great outdoors, they’ll be sure to be comfortable and cozy in the cabin. The living room features overstuffed recliners and a comfy sofa for lounging in front of the grand stone fireplace. The large windows and doors in the living room open onto the screened in porch and provide lots of light. There are two big screen televisions with Direct TV service. One is in the living room next to the fireplace and the other is in the kitchen. For additional entertainment, there are books, games, toys for kids, and a DVD player.
The fully-equipped kitchen comes with a stove, a refrigerator, an oven, a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a toaster a dishwasher, and all of the dishes and cookware needed to prepare stress-free meals at home. Guests are welcome to use condiments, spices, and some dry food items from the pantry and refrigerator. Off the living room, there is a dining area with a table that seats eight people for family style dinners.
The main attraction of this cabin is certainly the large screened in porch. Guests will be drawn to gather here for the atmosphere and views overlooking the Snicarte Slew. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the fresh air and time with loved ones. It is complete with a row of Adirondack chairs for lounging and enjoying the calm breezes and views of the water. There are two large tables which provide ample space for dining, setting up a buffet, or just playing cards.
Aside from the screened in porch, there is an outdoor deck with patio furniture. The stairs off the deck lead down to the porch with a bench and the large yard. Part of the yard is fenced in and includes a garden area. For grilling, guests can use the gas grill on the back deck, the George Foreman standup electric grill, or the charcoal grill. The property is surrounded by large, mature oak and cypress trees that make it feel secluded.
There is a screened in porch as well as a deck and patio area. Outdoor furniture includes Adirondack chairs, dining tables, and benches. The deck leads down to the yard, which has a fenced-in area, a garden, and access to the water. For grilling, guests have three options–a gas grill, a George Foreman grill, and a charcoal grill. To use the charcoal grill, guests must bring their own charcoal and drag the grill off the back deck to the open area.
Inside, the stone fireplace in the living room is gas operated. There is a full washer and dryer in the master bathroom for laundry. There are two central air conditioning units plus a window unit in the master bedroom.
For entertainment, there are two large flat-screen TVs with Direct TV, a DVD player, a selection of books, and an array of games and toys. Wi-Fi access is limited. Information about the internet is in the red folder on the kitchen island.

With its location right on the water, this woodland cabin is the perfect place from which to launch outdoor adventures. The Illinois River, as well as the many lakes, provide ample space and opportunities for boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, jet skiing, water skiing, and all other types of fun on the water. Those wanting to relax can grab a tube and take a gentle paddle down one of the calm inlets of the river. Guests can cool off by taking a refreshing dip in the river during a hot summer’s day. Out of the water, nature lovers can go hiking and biking along the water’s edge or in one of the many nature preserves and prairies mentioned above.
Anglers will be in heaven as the river and its lakes and backwaters boast prime fishing spots for white bass, sauger, walleyes, channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and panfish. Bath is also home to the Redneck Fishing Tournament, an annual event held in August. During this event, participants must catch as many Asian Carp as they can with only their hands or one-handed nets. In the end, the ones with the most fish are awarded a prize. Other events of interest in the area include weekly races and special events at the Central Illinois Dragway just north of the cabin in Havana, Illinois.
Glampers interested in history can take day trips to Springfield, Illinois, the state capital and former home of Abraham Lincoln. Springfield is home to many historic sites such as the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Lincoln Tomb, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and the Old State Capital.
