These lovely cottage rentals can be found on a lake in Madison County, Illinois, and are perfect for a fishing getaway.

Each cottage features a front porch, heating and air conditioning, ramp access, as well as a full kitchen with a stove and a microwave.

The first cottage can accommodate up to six guests and features charming decor. There is a queen-size bed in the master bedroom, a queen-size bed in the loft, and a sofa bed that is best for children, not adults. The stairway can be found between the first-floor bedroom and the bathroom and leads to the lofted bedroom. This cottages bathroom comes equipped with a shower, toilet, and a sink. The front porch's outdoor furniture makes it the perfect spot to have a meal al fresco or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of this wooded haven in Illinois.

The second cottage can sleep up to seven guests and has a queen-size bed in the master bedroom, three twin beds and one full-size bed in the loft, and a sofa bed. The loft's ceilings are low—four feet high in the front and three feet in the back—so glampers should watch their heads when climbing into bed. The cottage boasts a cozy living area with an adjacent dining room table. The private bathroom includes a dressing area, which is especially helpful for getting multiple glampers ready to go out and explore all at the same time. On the porch, guests will find two porch swings and a breakfast bar that overlooks the lake.

This glamping property sits upon the reclaimed surface of the old coal mine itself, a 324-foot subterranean mine, and the cottages are located on top of the highest point in Madison County—an old gob pile that sits 61 feet above the lake at 662 feet above sea level, giving guests stunning views of three different counties.

There is a winery located on the property in a renovated barn, with a tasting room that opens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It includes food service, a heated wine garden with seating for up to 40 people, and a winter loft with seating for up to 30.

At the winery, there is also an outdoor patio and grove, as well as a scenic wine trail and picnic areas. Guests can rent bicycles, too, and cycle down to the lake.

Non-guests can board their horses at the luxury camping property, as well.

Once a coal mining town, Williamson is a small village in the southwestern part of Illinois. Located in Madison County, it sits not far from St. Louis, the second largest city in the neighboring state of Missouri, most recognized for its iconic monument and tourist attraction, the Gateway Arch. The Arch stands 630 feet tall, made entirely of stainless steel, and it's the highest, man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, making a trip up to the top an unforgettable experience. This glamping property is located only 40 minutes away from St. Louis, an easy, one-day getaway for guests looking to explore a big city while on vacation.

Back in Madison County, glampers can visit both Edwardsville, the county seat, and Granite City, the largest city in the county, to discover what this region of Illinois has to offer—from numerous scenic bike trails and wildlife preserves in Edwardsville to the 74-acre Wilson Park in Granite City, complete with a pool, tennis courts, an ice skating rink, and more. Weather in the Midwest will give guests a taste of what it's like to be somewhere that experiences all four seasons. Guests should plan and pack accordingly, especially in mid- to late fall and winter, in order to avoid a last-minute shopping trip for warmer, or dryer, clothing items.

The 24-acre Shale Lake will be a delight for fishing glampers; however, the lake operates on a catch-and-release policy for guests who want to fish and don't possess the lake's fishing membership card. In the lake, there are many different types of fish, including catfish, crappie, bluegill, bass, and more.

The area around the property is home to a winery, woodlands, farmland, and many walking and hiking paths, perfect for guests who wish to stay active during their stay.
