This lovely suite is based in a mid-century farmhouse near Ames, Iowa, now a bed and breakfast, and can accommodate up to two guests looking for a romantic getaway near Des Moines. This cheerful room is furnished with one queen-size bed, a small table, and two chairs. The full private bathroom across the hall has a standing shower, a sink, and a toilet, as well as provided linens.

The room has two large closets, built-in drawers, and a flat-screen smart television for watching movies and TV from bed. Breakfast, which is included, is served every morning in the dining area. The rental overlooks the lodge’s beautiful south patio and rolling hills visible beyond the trees, perfect for Iowa romantic getaways.

Guests can also enjoy the screened-in porch where they can hear the water and admire the garden and view of the meandering Skunk River nearby. There are barbecue grills to use for summer cook-outs, and fire pits to light up in the evening. Away from the rental, there are plenty of activities for guests to enjoy, such as biking and hiking trails, wildlife and bird watching, canoeing and kayaking, and even cross-country skiing in the winter. Des Moines is under an hour's drive away for those wanting a change of scenery.

Guests have access to the house's main family room, living room, screened-in porch, and large spacious kitchen. The laundry facilities can be used with permission from the hosts.

Outside, guests can use the large front patio, furnished with chairs, a large picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire pit. Guests can also use the north deck, the lower water garden patio, and the west yard patio. The immediate surroundings include three big yards where guests can participate in various yard games. The house sits on a 12-acre site with several short trails and direct access to the river. Guests also have access to the adjacent farm that has approximately five miles of trails, including a 50 house bluebird trail and 30 acres of restored prairie. County parks with extensive trails are within one mile of the property.

This mid-century farm house provides an ideal retreat for glampers hoping to explore the beautiful pastoral lands of central Iowa with a relaxing accommodation to return to at the end of the day. At the house, guests can wake up to a delicious, home-cooked breakfast every morning, then head onto one of the nearby trails to hike, bike, or horseback ride.

In the winter, guests can go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing either on the property or at nearby county parks and Skunk River Greenbelt. On the Skunk River, guests can take kayaks,canoes, and tubes onto the water. Anglers should be sure to bring their equipment. Ames is also worth a visit, with its art museums, major university events, public gardens, and brewing companies attracting tourists from all over throughout the year.
