Elkport

For daredevils looking for a break from the outdoors and some supernatural thrills, the ghost town of Elkport might be worth a visit. Severely damaged by floods in 2004, most of the town’s population abandoned their estates, leaving the town desolate of people. There are many haunted locations in the town, including Mossy Glen Hollow, home to the ghost of a woman who once lived there. There is also Franklin Hotel, home to two ghosts. When you’ve had enough of the paranormal, get back on track and hit the road; just one hour east lays Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. The natural reserve is home to wildlife watching trails, a bookstore, and Lake Onalaska, where you’ll find bald eagles, and sandhill cranes. Those visiting Elkport will have access to the outdoors and an interesting experience with the paranormal. Start below.
