This family-constructed log cabin rental is located in northeast Iowa, near the Volga River State Recreation Area, and can accommodate up to eight guests. Its most prominent features include a full log exterior and a timber-framed support, all of which have been made out of native wood. There are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The first two bedrooms have double beds, the third has a queen-size bed and the last comes with a king-size bed. Additionally, there is a comfortable queen sleeper sofa available in the living room. The bathrooms feature showers, sinks, and toilets. Linens and towels are kindly provided.

The stunning interior features beams, flooring, and lumber, all of which were cut right on the farm by the hosts' family, giving it that authentic log cabin feel. In the living room, guests will find a sofa, a television, and a stone fireplace, perfect for relaxing together after a busy day exploring the area. The fully-equipped kitchen comes with the necessary appliances including a stove, a refrigerator, and an oven, making delicious home.cooked food a breeze. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and a telephone.

Outside, there is a deck with incredible views of the valley, a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. There is a barbecue grill available, should guests wish to take the cooking outside for some al fresco dining, and as the sun sets, there is a fire pit to light up for roasting some s'mores and swapping some stories. There a plenty of outdoor recreational activities to enjoy within easy driving distance, from hiking and biking in the woods to kayaking and fishing on the river.

Facilities here include Wi-FI, a landline telephone, central air conditioning, and a grand fireplace. There is also a washing machine and a dryer. The hosts here will provide guests with firewood due to the spread of various tree diseases. Outside, guests will have an outdoor deck, a barbecue grill, a spring-fed creek, and beautiful surroundings.

The lodge sits on a secluded 200 acres and has something for everyone. Guests looking to go hiking can head to one of the nearby protected wildlife areas or enjoy an enchanting stroll on-site. Gilbertson Conservation Area is an exceptional spot to take the kids for a hike or enjoy the afternoon fishing. The Volga Lake Recreation Area is also nearby and another pond on Cedar Road is just a few minutes away. The network of trails here will take glampers through stunning wooded hills, as well as prairie grasses, wildflowers, and lovely creeks. The land is abundant with wildlife, including turkey, pheasant, whitetail deer, and songbirds. In the evening, guests can catch a lovely sunset behind the valleys. Additionally, the village of Elkader is perfect for those looking to enjoy some time off-site and explore some of the many unique shops and restaurants in the area.
