This charismatic cottage rental is situated near downtown Calumet, Michigan, and makes for the perfect Lake Superior Getaway. The cottage can accommodate four guests, and there is one bedroom with a queen-size bed, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, and French doors that open to breathtaking views of the lake. The bathroom features a toilet, a sink, and a shower. Linens, artisan soaps, and towels are kindly provided by the host.
In the charming living room, guests will find ash hardwood floors, a 50-inch TV with DirecTV programming, and a plush sofa that can be converted into a bed, should guests require additional sleeping space. The full kitchen is equipped with Carrera marble counters, major and minor stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink, and cooking utensils. This charming cottage rental is nestled in the lush landscape of Michigan's Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior. Although the peaceful setting of this property may feel remote, guests will be just a few miles from the historic neighboring town of Calumet. Guests will be just under an hour from Copper Harbor, 40 minutes from Mt. Bohemia, 15 minutes from McLain State Park, less than 10 minutes from Swedetown, and only five minutes from Keweenaw National Historical Park. There are numerous beaches dotting the pristine coastline which guests can easily access by car or bicycle. Guests will be a short drive from both Lake Superior and Keweenaw National Historical Park, making this the ideal spot for outdoor recreation and adventure. On the beach, guests can build a bonfire under the night sky and perhaps even get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. The lake provides excellent conditions for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing as well. The Keweenaw Peninsula is home to a number of scenic hiking, mountain biking, and ATV trails winding through the rugged landscape. For a more relaxing activity, guests can head one of the area's beautiful golf courses.
During colder months, the area is transformed into a winter wonderland with a plethora of options for winter sports and activities. Guests can go downhill or cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and snowboarding at one of several nearby resorts or ski areas. Guests will be a short drive from the Swedetown Nordic Ski Trails and half an hour from Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. Mount Bohemia, known as the Midwest’s premier ski resort, is 40 minutes away featuring 650 acres of picturesque snowy terrain.
Guests can learn about the rich history of the gold mining era at numerous museums and galleries, some of which are housed in buildings dating back to the mid-1800’s. Other great ways to experience the local culture include observing the eight stunning lighthouses dotting the peninsula, catching a show at the historic Calumet Theater, or taking a scenic drive to explore nearby ghost towns. Guests will have an array of dining options for indulging in delicious regional cuisine, as well as many local boutiques and antique stores for shopping.
