Home to fantastic outdoor recreation, guests will surely want to spend most of their days in Grand Rapids outside, soaking up the fresh air of Pure Michigan. For a day spent on the water, glampers should venture to Grand River, the longest river in the state, and one that boasts many activities. From salmon, steelhead, and walleye fishing, to boarding the Grand Lady Riverboat for a steamboat tour of the river, to renting kayaks, canoes, and/or venturing out in a boat, Grand River offers a unique look into the history of the area along with the beautiful nature that composes it.
In conjunction with the Grand River, a day of family fun is sure to be had at Millennium Park, where guests can swim in the sparkling, crystal clear man-made lake, sunbathe on the sandy six-acre beach, enjoy lunch from the concession stand at nearby picnic tables, and rent kayaks, paddleboats, and stand-up paddleboards to take out on the water. Parents can also let their children splash about in the waterpark at the Mehney Splashpad, where sprayers, buckets of water, and stationed splashers will soak their kids with not only water but also fantastic memories of a sunny summer in Michigan. For adventurous guests, Millennium Park also offers access to 18 miles of paved trails that lead guests along the Grand River, with other lakes and ponds visible on the way, as well.
Glampers should be sure to stop by one of the most well-known spots in Grand Rapids, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. The 158-acre botanical garden and outdoor sculpture park is now recognized internationally for the beauty it possesses. Guests are likely to spend hours wandering the gardens and the conservatory.
Golfing and biking are two highly encouraged activities in Grand Rapids, as well, since the city is home to fantastic mountains trails and sleek courses.
