Set in the middle of the idyllic Hiawatha National Forest and offering four bedrooms with sleeping for up to 15 guests, this rental is perfect for a secluded and family-friendly getaway. This is one of the most private spots in the Midwest, and includes a private and stocked 42-acre lake. All bedrooms have large windows overlooking the lake and private entrances in three of the four. Two of the bedrooms have patio doors going to the deck which is 15 feet away from the lake. The bedrooms come with varying combinations of cozy twin and double beds, and linens and bedding are kindly provided by the host.

For entertainment, there is a fantastic game room including foosball, a pool table, and a ping-pong table. There are also numerous board games, horseshoes, a bean bag game and a pool table, so guests of all ages will find something to do in their downtime. Guests will enjoy Direct TV, a 48-inch HD LED TV, a DVD player, video games, and a video library. The kitchen is 800 square feet in size with cherry wood cabinets and tiled counter tops. Everything guests can think of for cooking is included. There is almost every type of utensil, pot and pan guests can imagine for a full house or small group entertaining.

Outside, guests can take advantage of having their own private lake by fishing from the dock, taking one of the many boats provided for a spin, or simply jumping into the waters and splashing round. When guests start to get hungry, there is a barbecue to prepare hearty meals or freshly-caught fish for some al fresco dining, and when the sun sets, guests can huddle around the fire pits, roast s'mores, and swap stories well into the night.

Location + Surroundings

Set on a beautiful, privately owned lake in Upper Michigan, this property is secluded and set right in the middle of Hiawatha National Forest. The Upper Peninsula is bordered by the exceptional St. Marys River to the east, Lake Michigan and Huron set northeast and Lake Superior to the north. Here guests will have a small beach for children and a swim platform for teenagers and adults. This property is fifteen miles north of Little Bay De Noc and Rapid River, the closest town which is a 35-minute trip due to the windy roads.

Freshwater fishing is a popular activity here, as the surrounding waters offer various native fish including, Muskie, Large Mouth, Crappie and plenty of pan fish. With two and a half miles of shoreline and a 42 acre stocked lake, guests will enjoy everything from canoeing to kayaking and even paddle boating. In the winter, head to Rapid River Ski Trail for quality snowshoeing.

In the warmer months, spend time at Haymeadow Creek Falls Trail, the Maywood History Trail or the Felch Grade Route ORV Trail. Be sure to catch the sunrise from Peninsula Point Lighthouse and explore the Peninsula Point Lighthouse Interpretive Trail. Lastly, guests will spend plenty of days lounging on the upper deck of this lovely waterfront property.
