Finlayson

A city in Pine County, Minnesota, Finlayson offers visitors a quaint spot to get rest at when not climbing the ice walls of Banning State Park. The park is directly east of the city, stretching 10 miles down the Kettle River. The park is composed of quick rapids, great for daring kayaking and whitewater rafting activities. Many kayakers and canoeists take to the park every year, going down Blueberry Slide, Mother’s Delight, Dragon’s Tooth, Little Banning, and Hell’s Gate—a number of the park’s most notorious rapids. There are also many hiking trails in the region, so be sure to bring the boots out; you’ll find yourself in and out of them as you enjoy quick showers in some of Banning’s swimming holes. Certainly an exciting adventure along crazy waters, those visiting Finlayson should consider experiencing Banning State Park.
