Hocking Hills State Park has gorges, waterfalls, caves, and hiking trails just waiting to be explored. Guests can check out Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls, as well as the Cantwell Cliffs, and Rock House. Adventurous guests can hike the six-mile Grandma Gatewood Trail, which is part of the Ohio Buckeye Trail.
Outdoor adventures include scenic horseback riding tours, ATV trails, and rock climbing. Birdwatching enthusiasts can keep their eyes peeled for eagles, hawks, and osprey in Wayne National Forest. Lake Logan State Park is a popular spot for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for bass, bluegill, and bullhead catfish. Rockbridge State Nature Preserve has a unique natural stone arch bridge, which is the largest natural bridge in Ohio. For wintertime fun, Mad River Mountain Ski Resort is about an hour and 45 minutes away. There are downhill ski slopes and snowboarding terrain.
Columbus is about an hour away and makes a nice day trip for families or couples. Columbus attractions include Jack Hanna's Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the COSI Columbus science museum and planetarium, the Central Ohio Fire Museum, and the Columbus Museum of Art.
