Harshaw

Based in Oneida County, Harshaw is a small town that is surrounded by two luscious national forests. As such, it’s an ideal pit stop for those looking to reach the Chequamegon and Nicolet national forests based east and west of it. Both forests combine to cover more than 1.5 million acres of Wisconsin’s northern wilderness. It’s home to plenty recreational spaces, wildlife habitats, fisheries, and natural areas management venues. Though much of the old-growth forests in the region did not survive 20th-century logging, it still has some of the heartiest landscapes in northern Wisconsin. You’ll find reflective alpine lakes, luscious waterfalls hidden deep in the wilderness, and picturesque foliage to complement your photos. As such, a trip to Harshaw grants easy access to this scenic natural reserve.
