Kremmling

Situated east of Steamboat Springs along Hwy. 40 in Grand County, the small town of Kremmling offers access to virtually every outdoor pursuit in Colorado. It is close to three national forests: Routt, Arapaho and White River. The Blue River, the Colorado River and Muddy Creek all pass through town, too, offering ample whitewater adventures for kayakers and rafters as well as some excellent fishing spots. In fact, the fishing is so good that the town hosts an ice-fishing tournament on its Wolford Mountain Reservoir each February. In addition, the Wolford Mountain Recreation Area, overseen by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, boasts a trail system providing non-motorized and motorized opportunities just north of town. Kremmling also is close to Steamboat Ski Resort, and there's more than 300 miles of cross-country ski trails in the surrounding Grand County area. Summer activities include horseback riding, hiking and driving along scenic roads. The town is known as a sportsman's paradies, a real Western wilderness filled with breathtaking scenery and unspoiled terrain. Its miles of OHV trails are one of the reasons it's known as the motorsport capital of Grand County.
