The Salmon River runs through the town of Salmon and is known for its fantastic whitewater rafting. Guests looking to stay dry can also participate in a number of other outdoor activities, such as steelhead fishing, big game hunting, hiking, and bird watching. All of these excursions can be set up through the hosts of the inn. The Lewis and Clark Expedition Trail is close by and is the original trail used by Lewis and Clark to explore the newly purchased American northwest in 1805. Sacajawea, the famous Native American who helped the two on their expedition, was born and raised in the Lemhi River Valley, and there is a museum dedicated to her in downtown Salmon.
