The majority of the Helena National Forest and all of the Gates of the Mountain Wilderness Area is accessible only by hiking or on horseback. Guests can visit Refrigerator Canyon and Beaver Creek, which are great mountainous areas for hiking, biking, fishing, and viewing wildlife. There are miles of trails meandering through wildflowers, tall pines, and meadows, and guests can hike up to the pikes and reward themselves with the spectacular views from up above. Come wintertime, there is downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing on offer.

Given that the property is nestled halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, guests will find themselves in the Gates of the Mountains. Located 20 miles north of Helena, the property is one of Montana's not-to-miss places in order to see the “Heart” of Montana. The river is surrounded by over 28,000 acres of roadless, undeveloped wilderness and filled with flora and fauna. Guests can admire the towering limestone and Missouri River, best explored by rafting or floating down it. For the fishermen in the group, they can head south to Twin Bridges for prime trout fishing territory, too.
