This property is located 17 miles from Moab on a mostly dirt road. It's only 17 miles but it will take an hour. Guests don't normally need four-wheel drive to get here but some ground clearance would help. If height is an issue, there will be lots of issues driving up and down Hurrah Pass on the journey to Base Camp. There are unlimited hikes on and from the property. Dinosaur tracks, fossils, all types of geology, petrified wood, critters of all kinds to include, fox, ringtail, spotted skunk, badger, raccoon, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and a nearly 200 pound African Spur tortoise that lives here.

The day views are tremendous and the night sky unbelievable. There are hundreds of birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that do also. Close by there are mines, caves, springs, pottery sherds, arrowhead flakes, petroglyphs, abandoned oil well, and long-forgotten structures.

It is not Arches, Canyonlands, Bear Ears, or Dead Horse State Park. Yes, there are arches, balanced rocks, hikes with incredible canyon views, and almost everything guests could imagine and more. The one thing guests won't find that all those places have are the crowds. There are four rooms at the lodge on the south side of the property and two houses and two hogans on the north end about a mile from here.

Guests who want to spend time at the parks should probably visit them before they drive out or after checking out of this property. Those who want to experience the night sky with more stars than ever known, see critters in their natural environment, put their feet on grounds that may have never been walked on before, and maybe get their hands a little dirty, exploring this incredible landscape is just the place.

There is not a day that I don't wake up and know how special this place is and I'm happy to share it.

The property is about a mile long and half mile wide and mostly surrounded by thousands of more acres of canyon lands.

Kayaks, both singles and doubles are at the boat ramp already. Sign waivers, pick up paddles and jackets in the lodge and you're on your way. Sometimes in late April to early July the river is too swift for kayaking, most of the rest of the year is fine.

Kobae, the property's 210 pound security tortoise frequently hangs out on the porch but he loves to hike also. Sometimes generally in August through October and into early November he'll go hiking. Someone has to go with him to keep him out of trouble. If you'd like to go with him I can make that happen.

This property offers up two 18 hole golf courses. Not just blue and red, two blue and red with fearsome reputations.

With darkness, the little people come to the lodge porch to eat from the canyons and river. Raccoons, ring tail, skunk, and fox come most nights. Feeding times vary depending on time of the year so check with the lodge for times while you're visiting.

Take a side by side to the Wind Caves and Chicken Corner. It's the end of the road at Chicken Corner but not the end of the trail. There's a trail that goes around the corner. It's not for everybody. Three or four feet wide and several hundred feet down but if you do walk it the view coming out is incredible.

Additional info

Pets are welcome. The property is large and there are lots of critters across the property. Please keep your dogs from chasing them. We have deer, big horn sheep, fox, ringtails, raccoon, skunk, and lots of others. We feed birds, schools, chipmunks and the like every morning. We have a 210 pound tortoise that eats on the front porch of the lodge every day and hikes around the property. Please keep an eye out for him. Certain times of the year, usually spring, summer, and fall we have critters come to the porch to eat at night. If you'd like to view them that's fine. Ask me what time.
