While in Moab, guests will enjoy the unique opportunity to visit not just one but two national parks on the same trip–or even on the same day! Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park lie about half an hour to the north and the southwest, respectively. The former encompasses 76,528 acres that boast some of the most remarkable geological formations in the West, including gigantic balanced rocks, soaring spires, towering pinnacles, and more than 2,000 sandstone arches.
Canyonlands National Park, in turn, is the largest national park in the entire state of Utah and is home to the Island in the Sky--a massive mesa whose sheer sandstone cliffs rise 1,000 feet over the parkland below. From the top of the mesa, guests can enjoy magnificent views extending 100 miles in every direction.
There is more to both parks than just extraordinary rock formations and geological features, although they are certainly worth the price of admission alone. Arches National Park, for example, is dotted with ephemeral pools that collect rainwater in their sandstone basins, while the Colorado River, Green River, and intermittent canyon streams flow through Canyonlands National Park.
The site is about three hours and 40 minutes from Salt Lake City, where the nearest international airport is located. Read More

These trails encompass a range of difficulty levels, from the undemanding, 0.3-mile Balanced Rock loop trail to the difficult, 7.2-mile Devils Garden Primitive Loop.
Guests can also go on guided walks and hikes with park rangers, and they can go on a variety of hiking, van, bus, 4x4, and photography tours with more than a dozen local companies, such as Adrift Adventures, Moab Photo Tours, and Tag-A-Long Expeditions.
At Canyonlands National Park, guests will find even more hiking trails, including four easy trails, five moderate difficulty trails, and nine difficult trails. This park is also a popular location for mountain biking, with the White Rim Road providing a 100-mile track winding around the Island in the Sky.
The Colorado River and the Green River weave through the park, eventually meeting each other at a confluence. The calm waters upstream of the confluence are perfect for canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and scenic rafting, while the wilder waters downstream are ideal for whitewater rafting through Westwater Canyon and Cataract Canyon. Tours and rentals are available through a variety of local companies, such as Canyon Voyages.
Guests can go horseback riding on Ken's Lake Trail, Pack Creek Trail, Seven Mile Canyon Trail, Onion Creek Trail, with rides ranging from two to four and a half hours. Custom trail rides on the Moab Desert and along the Colorado River are also available through Moab Horses at Hauer Ranch.
