Tucked away in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, this spacious vacation rental for groups is located in Encampment, Wyoming—near the infamous hot springs of Saratoga—and can comfortably accommodate 10 guests, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The wooden, green-roofed lodge appears straight off a postcard, backed by blue skies and encircled by mountain views. The stunning common area features a stone fireplace that climbs all the way up to the vaulted ceiling and is centered between four large picture windows looking out onto the front porch and displaying yet another angle of the incredible vistas just outside the door. The large black leather couch and matching black leather chairs beside it facilitate the ultimate relaxation zone.

Every part of the rental is illuminated with natural light from the massive Wyoming sky, so guests never feel closed off from the gorgeous surroundings. The open layout of the common area includes the fully-equipped kitchen with an oven, a stove, a refrigerator with an ice machine, a dishwasher, a large sink, a coffeemaker, and a tea kettle, along with an abundance of wooden cabinets that house cookware and dishes, so that guests may prepare and enjoy fantastic meals during their stay.

In the morning, however, visitors are invited to settle into the darling dining room that includes a spacious wooden table, brightly-colored, contemporary metal mismatched chairs, while the hosts serve a freshly-cooked breakfast of the renter’s preferred breakfast, fruit, pastries, coffee, and juice. At night, guests may wish to retreat back to the comfortable couch to enjoy warm, freshly baked cookies and a cold glass of milk, also provided by the hospitable hosts.

In the upstairs loft, guests will be delighted to find a game table and a snug reading nook next to a four-seater table with a bookcase beside it. Visitors are encouraged to help themselves to great reads, games, and movies during their stay at the lodge.

Down the hallway on the first level, guests will find the spacious master suite, which comes with a custom, handcrafted log king-size bed that sleeps two under plush bedding, accompanied by cozy chairs for guests to rest in before heading to bed, and a television on a table across from the bed for late night movies and catching up on the news in the morning. Large windows line the walls, exposing amazing views of the Battle and Snowy Range mountains, so when guests first open their eyes, they’ll be reminded of the adventure awaiting them once they hop out of bed. The suite has its own bathroom with a roomy walk-in shower, a Jacuzzi bathtub, a toilet, and two sinks. The two walk-in closets in the room leave more than enough space for guests to unpack their belongings.

The other three suites can be found upstairs in the lodge, and each room has its own charm and color scheme, making each space feel unique and spacious. Each of the suites has bright curtains, a mounted, flat-screen television, and gorgeous handcrafted log furniture, crafted with impeccable attention to detail, from the bed frame to the side tables. Each of the three bathrooms comes fully stocked with organic toiletries stowed in the spacious closets that accompany the walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. Guests are sure to find a great night’s sleep in either of the queen-size beds or in the king-size bed found in the remaining suites. A blow-up, queen-size bed is available, if necessary. Locally-roasted coffee and the property's signature house blend hot tea is provided by the hosts to ensure the comfort of every guest.

After a great night’s sleep, guests may feel inclined to venture outside onto the large deck that overlooks the entire property and boasts even more spectacular 360-degree views of the mountainous land. Guests of the bed and breakfast are invited to embark on exciting and entertaining excursions offered by the hosts of the property and local guides. The planned outings vary depending on each guest and what they wish to experience in the surrounding area. Excursions led by the hosts include two potential hikes: the first covering one and a half miles to Indian Bathtubs, natural, bowl-shaped rock formations that become bathtubs after rainfall, and the second up to Green Mountain Falls, where guests will be driven up the scenic Battle Highway, which hosts Battle Pass, on the Continental Divide, where guests will be treated to incredible vistas of the Sierra Madres before hiking one and a half miles to the cascading falls. Views along the hike range from mountains to grasslands full of moose and sparkling creeks, so guests are encouraged to bring their cameras.

For some time on the water, visitors should be sure to join the canoe excursion to Hog Park Reservoir, where participants will be able to paddle their way through the river and even cast their lines for a relaxed day of fishing. Each of these three excursions includes a boxed lunch so that guests can get the most of out every activity without missing a beat. Two more unique excursions include foraging for herbs and plants that could potentially be used in meal preparation during the guest’s stay and trying out wool spinning classes, where guests will learn the process of creating handmade wool crafts.

Tours led by local guides include guided fishing and rafting trips, guided hunting trips, snowmobile/ATV rentals, and Jeep/car rentals. The hosts of the property book and arrange every tour and outing, so all that guests have to do is mention their interests and when they would like to embark on their excursion. Custom excursions are also an option, so guests can choose exactly how they would like to spend their day, and the host will then facilitate it.

Encampment is a town full of charm and character that guests can witness at the Grand Encampment Opera Hall, which, at over 100 years old, still hosts shows twice a year, or at the Grand Encampment Museum, for a taste of the history of the valley. Although Encampment will keep guests happily exploring for the duration of their stay, visitors should be sure to venture over to Saratoga for a dip in the Hobo Hot Pool, a free bathhouse that is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Saratoga is famous for its hot springs that bring healthy relaxation to all who bathe in the water, with temperatures ranging from 106 to 119 degrees. Saratoga also hosts some of the best trout fishing in the country, attracting fishermen from all over. The town center is home to great shops and restaurants, making for a fantastic day trip.
