The Appalachian Trail is not far from the cottage, so day hikes up the trail from Monson can be fun, as well as hikes up Borestone Mountain which is part of the Borestone Mountain Audubon Sanctuary. Borestone is a must for all outdoor enthusiasts, especially in the fall when the foliage is beautiful.
Guests who make the 25-mile trip to Moosehead Lake, in Greenville, will find many activities on offer, including moose watching, boating, kayaking, and even scenic plane trips.
During the winter months, guests can go snowmobiling and cross-country skiing, as there are many trails traveling through the Maine Highlands. In addition, it's less than an hour's drive from the property to the Big Squaw Mountain resort, where glampers can enjoy seasonal skiing and snowboarding. For something a little different, sled-dog race lovers can see races in various locations in the region, throughout the winter.
