This cozy cabin rental is located near the Saco River in Maine and can accommodate five guests for a peaceful getaway to a bucolic, 50-acre property in the countryside between the White Mountains and the Lakes Region of Maine. Inside the cottage, guests will find two bedrooms, one full bathroom, a living/dining area, and a kitchenette. Built in a post and beam construction-style, clad with barn board walls, and furnished with a variety of antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia, the cabin has plenty of rustic character. It is also imbued with a sense of history, having served as a dance hall and a speakeasy in the 1920s and a barrel making shop in the 1940s.

In the first bedroom, guests will find a queen-size bed and an air conditioner. The second bedroom is furnished with a pair of twin beds and a fold-out couch that can accommodate two guests. The bathroom contains a shower, a toilet, and a sink. Linens and towels are provided.

In the living/dining area, guests will find a futon, a four-person dining table, a fireplace, and an oak bar that seats four. The kitchenette is equipped with an oven, a stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffeemaker. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, cable television, ironing equipment, and a crib.

Outside, guests will find a lush meadow in which they can have a picnic, woodlands laced with nature trails on which they can go on tranquil walks, a natural spring from which they can fill their bottles with fresh drinking water, and an organic garden to which they can help themselves to produce such as corn, tomatoes, beans, and cucumbers in the summer and early fall.

Inside the cottage, guests will enjoy amenities such as Wi-Fi, cable television, a kitchenette, a fireplace, an air conditioner, an oak bar, and a variety of antique furnishings, collectibles, and memorabilia.

With the White Mountains of New Hampshire to the west, the Lakes Region of Maine to the east, and a quintessentially New England countryside full of woodlands, streams, ponds, trails, and recreation venues all around them, guests will be well-positioned to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities during their getaway to this accommodation.

Guests can go on nature walks on the trails right on the property, with many more opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing at the nearby Brownfield Bog Wildlife Preserve and White Mountain National Forest. Right from the property, guests can also go biking on the surrounding country roads and snowmobiling on an extensive network of state-maintained snowmobile trails.

Guests interested in horseback riding can go on rides through nearby Snowycreek Outfitters. For the more leisurely enjoyment of the surrounding countryside, guests can go on a scenic drive on the Kancamagus Highway.

For water-based activities, guests can go fishing, canoeing, and kayaking on the Saco River, with rentals available from local outfitters. Guests can also go fishing on the brook that runs through the property and the many lakes of the Lakes Region of Maine.

For downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, guests can visit the slopes and trails of the King Pine Ski Area, Shawnee Peak, and the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation.

Other options include attending musical performances at the Stone Mountain Arts Center, attending the Fryeburg Fair (an annual agricultural fair), and playing tennis at the local clay tennis courts, which guests can access for free.
