Biking is one of the best ways to explore Martha's Vineyard since it's fairly flat with miles of trails crisscross the island. A private trail from the house leads to Menemsha Beach, allows guests to relax on the beach or enjoy the water with snorkeling or kayaking. Sailing, fishing, jet skiing, water skiing, wind-surfing, and boating are also popular on Martha's Vineyard, and the Menemsha dock is within biking distance of the cottage.

There are many beaches nearby, including the Vineyard Sound beach, and the Chilmark and Lucy Vincent Ocean Beaches. There are multiple wildlife preserves on the East end of the island, including Mass Audobon's Felix Neck Wildlife Preserve, Caroline Tuthill Wildlife Preserve, and the Long Point Wildlife Refuge Beach. These are great spots for walking, hiking, and wildlife watching. In the middle of the island sits the Manuel Correllus State Forest, which is another popular hiking destination. Martha's Vineyard is also a fun destination for shopping, and there are multiple golf courses on the island.
