Oak Bluffs is a great place to take in the architecture of the Victorian cottages, many of which surround the Tabernacle, a wrought-iron cathedral that was built in 1879. On August 20, the town hosts the annual Grand Illumination Night, in which the cottages are decorated with colorful paper lanterns. There is also many local shops in town as well as quality eateries such as Nancy’s Restaurant, which overlooks the marina. Glampers can also rent bikes or spend time at the public beach with views of Nantucket Sound and salt marshes. On Sundays, Washington Park hosts the Oak Bluffs Open Market, where live musicians perform and vendors sell local produce, antiques, and artisanal goods.
Glampers can enjoy the outdoors at the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest. Activities available in the forest include hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, fishing, and disc golf. Another place to take in all that nature has to offer is the Trade Wind Fields Preserve, perfect for hiking and bird-watching. In addition, glampers can take a car ride around the island to take in the stunning coastline and oceanside towns, or spend a day golfing at the Farm Neck Golf Club.
