This charming, 19th-century farmhouse in Vermont offers guests not only a fantastic mountain getaway with gorgeous views but also style and country charm. The cottage farmhouse can sleep a total of six guests in three bedrooms, with one full and one half bathroom. The master bedroom has two double beds, the second room has two twin beds, and the third room has another double.
From the modern, fully-equipped kitchen to the large dining room and grand living room, guests will find that they have plenty of space to relax and unwind. The living room, decorated with antiques, art, and oriental rugs like the rest of the cottage, has a beautiful fireplace and even a grand piano. In Londonderry, Vermont, this late 19th-century property sits halfway up Hell's Peak with gorgeous views of both Magic and Stratton Mountains. The 65-acre property offers guests peace and quiet, comfort, and a great location for exploring the Green Mountains. The charming farmhouse is surrounded by open fields and lovely flower gardens. Skiers will find themselves an easy drive from Stratton, Bromley, Magic Mountain, and Okemo, all great downhill ski resorts in the area. Also nearby are miles of maintained cross-country skiing trails.
Come summer, guests can hike a portion of the famed Appalachian Trail, head to Lowell Lake or Hapgood Pond for a swim, or drive to the Battenkill in Manchester to go fishing. Tennis, golf and horseback riding are also available. Our area excels in opportunities for sightseeing, shopping, museum-going and fine dining.
For practical matters, a full grocery store with wine is only a mile or so away, as are a drug store, post office, liquor store, several restaurants, and a hardware store. In summer, on Saturdays, a large farmers' market is held near the base of the road leading to the farmhouse. Southern Vermont is a fantastic place to go glamping. In the winter the mountains are blanketed in snow, while in the summer there are miles of trails and rivers and lakes to explore. Guests staying at this property are an easy drive to an abundance of downhill skiing resorts. Guests have the opportunity to go skiing or snowboarding at Stratton, Bromley, Magic Mountain, or Okemo. There are also miles of maintained cross-country skiing trails in the area should guests wish to do that instead of downhill skiing.
Once the snow melts, the Appalachian Trail passes nearby the property and every year many guests hike a portion of the famed trail, which runs from Georgia to Maine. Other popular summertime activities include swimming and canoeing around Lowell Lake or Hapgood Pond. Tennis, golf, fishing and horseback riding are also available in the area, as well as magnificent sightseeing, and lots of museums, antique shops, good restaurants, summer theatre, etc. In Manchester, only 15 miles away from the house, is a large shopping outlet featuring many name brand bargains. This property is not pet-friendly, due to allergies in the host's family and those of other guests.
Guests will be sent an orientation letter via email upon booking confirmation that provides helpful information about the accommodation, the property, and the area, as well as things to do.
The caretaker will take guests' trash to the dump. Guests must separate all recyclables into one single stream bag. Wet trash must be separate. Please leave $15 cash for caretaker each time their services are needed, the bare minimum being upon each departure.
The cleaner comes at 10 a.m. the day of guests' departure and stays for three to four hours. She does the laundry but does not make the beds. Linens are in the cabinets at end of the master bedroom, marked by sheet size in the drawers. Towels and washcloths are in the hall linen closet.
Please note: The majority of the year this property rents with a tax rate of 9%, but from November 18 to April 15, the accommodation is ONLY rented out for the ENTIRE SKI SEASON (a minimum 150-day stay). The rate is $10,500 for the 150 days, and there is no tax charged. There will be a $2,000 refundable security deposit and a $3,000 fuel and utility deposit (the guest may need to pay more during the five-month stay, depending on consumption). Other expenses guests will need to pay the property's caretaker throughout their stay include trash pick-up, snow plow service, firewood, and house checks. Our cleaner must be hired at least three times during the stay at $120 per cleaning. The final, fourth clean may cost more, depending on usage, and the cleaner will bill the guests. No smoking and no pets are permitted, and no more than six people can stay at the house at any one time.
