In the spring and the fall, the lake provides a seasonal home to a variety of migratory birds. During these seasons, guests can also see another spectacular natural sight: the Northern Lights. Guests interested in wildlife viewing may spot bears, moose, and wolves in the surrounding coniferous forest, which also provides opportunities for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and backcountry skiing. Private guided photography tours are available through the host.

Guests interested in fishing can catch cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden char, and sockeye and silver salmon in Mosquito Lake, which can also be used for ice fishing and cross-country skiing in the winter and canoeing in the summer. Silver salmon can also be caught in the Chilkat River. Other activity options include mountain biking, mountain climbing, and downhill skiing in the Chilkat Mountains.
