Ketchikan

The city of Ketchikan is the first stop for many in Alaska, as well as the gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument, which is rightfully known as the "The Yosemite of the North" for its incredible beauty. The Misty Fjords National Monument is a region of extraordinary beauty, a stunning 3,570-square-miles packed with sea cliffs, steep fjords and valleys, and rock walls jutting straight out of the ocean. Take a trip to the monument, and choose between tour boat, small airplane or kayak in order to see the local fauna such as seals, otters, bald eagles, and whales. From here you can also easily check out Prince of Wales Island and Annette Island for even more beauty, or head inland for fantastic hiking! Fishing, scuba diving, and snorkeling are also excellent here.
