Located at the perfect crossroads between civilization and untouched nature, Palmer is the place to be when it comes to a glamping themed getaway. The city is located on the banks of the Matanuska River, where guests can go rafting and kayaking in the river’s whitewater rapids. North of Palmer is the Hatcher Pass, a popular year-round resort destination for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports while mountain biking and hiking are made available during warmer months. Speaking of warmer months, the Alaska State Fair is held in Palmer in August every year and is a must-visit. Guests can head south into the Chugach National Forest and check out the wonderful flora and fauna that flourish in the region, including the bald eagle. There are more bald eagles in the park than there are in the rest of the entire continental United States.
