Located 29 miles from Kenai and a mere 2-3 hours from Anchorage, Sterling is the perfect place for anybody seeking plenty of outdoor adventure. This area is ideal for both sportfishing and hunting, as well as hiking and canoeing. There are almost as many fishing guide companies as fish, so it's easy to arrange a trip to the best spots. Head to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge for all the best adventure, or for something a little more unique, check out the prehistoric house pits at the Isaac Walton State Recreation Site - from Kenaitze Indians over a thousand years ago! You can also check out the High Mark Distillery and the Dreamer's Woods - the latter is home to some unique chainsaw art, which is well worth checking out.
