Bayside

Bayside, California was originally incorporated as a logging town, due to the massive amounts of coastal redwoods and close proximity to creeks and the Pacific Ocean. Many mammoth redwood trees were cut down during the lumber operations, but have since been protected. Victorian houses and buildings still exist, reminiscent of the historic settlements. Explore Arcata Bay, which connects to the fishing port of Humboldt Bay. The Samoa State Marine Conservation Area lies on the other side of the bay, a great place for sailing and spotting marine wildlife. The Shasta-Trinity National Forest lies to the east, providing hikers and mountain bikers with hundreds of trails to explore. The Redwoods National Park lies to the north.
