Lake Elsinore

This area is home to tons of history from Native Americans to Spanish adventurers to American trappers. It became Elsinore in 1888, named for the Danish City in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It’s grown from a small resort town to a substantial city of over 50,000. Lake Elsinore is the largest natural freshwater lake in southern California. Go swimming, boating, paddleboarding, or water skiing here and enjoy the natural surroundings. The Elsinore Mountains are to the west, which are part of the larger Santa Ana Mountain Range.
