This gorgeous rustic cabin rental is located in Truckee, California. It is surrounded by pine trees in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, only 20 minutes away from Donner Lake and half an hour away from Lake Tahoe. It can accommodate up to 13 guests, perfect for families and groups of friends.
When guests arrive, they can park in the long driveway or in the spacious, two-car garage. When they step through the front door, they will be welcomed with a majestic stone foyer and high vaulted ceilings. In the living room, they will find three comfortable sofas circled around a flat-screen TV with a DVD player and a wood-burning fireplace that is perfect for curling up in front of after a day of skiing or snowboarding. There is a wet bar with a mini-fridge and a wine cooler, and a dining table that can seat up to six guests. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a fridge with an ice maker, a microwave, a dishwasher, a coffeemaker, a breakfast bar, and a stove and oven. Dishes and cooking utensils are provided.
Just off the kitchen and living room, guests will find the half bathroom and a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. Also near the kitchen is a cozy parlor with scenic views of the surrounding woodlands. The master bedroom includes a king-size bed with a dresser, a walk-in closet, and a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. It also has a private entrance to the back deck and its own ensuite bathroom with a toilet, a sink, a shower, and a separate bathtub.
Upstairs, the loft serves as a game room with a pool table, a ping-pong table, and a poker table, as well as a comfortable couch and another flat-screen TV. The couch can be folded out into a queen-size bed. There is another master bedroom with a king-size bed and a full bathroom, and a third bedroom with a queen-size bed. Kids can sleep in the fourth bedroom with its twin-size bunk bed and double bed with twin-size trundle.
Soft, high-quality linens are provided in all the bedrooms and fresh towels are provided in all the bathrooms. Other amenities include heating and air conditioning, cable and satellite, Wi-Fi, ceiling fans, an elevator, and a hairdryer.
After a long day of outdoor adventure, guests can relax outside on the private back deck. Guests can cook dinners on the gas BBQ grill or just sit back on the nice patio furniture with a glass of wine. They can soak in the hot tub as the sun sets over the snow-capped mountains or hike down to the private beach on Donner Lake.
Guests will have access to the nearby Trout Creek Recreation Center, where there is a swimming pool, a gym, and a snow play area for children. They will also have access to a private beach on Donner Lake, as well as a golf course, tennis and basketball courts, and several hiking trails.
The cabin has a private back deck with a hot tub, as well as a sitting area and a gas BBQ grill. The cabin is only about 20 minutes away from Donner Lake. In the warmer months, guests can go swimming, boating, and fishing on the lake or sunbathe and have picnics on the shore. In addition, they can hike and ride bikes through Donner Memorial State Park, where there is also a museum on the area's rich pioneer history, such as the notorious Donner Party. Guests will also be within walking distance to many shops and popular local restaurants.
For more fun on the water, guests can drive down to Lake Tahoe for more swimming and boating, as well as canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and jet-skiing. Guests can walk, hike, ride bikes, or take photos along several miles of nature trails around the lake.
Guests will be near many high-end ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area, such as Heavenly Mountain and Northstar California. Guests can go downhill or cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing down slopes and trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Many resorts also include restaurants, live entertainment, and day spas with massages and natural hot springs.
After a day on the slopes, guests can enjoy a fun evening over in Reno, about half an hour away from Truckee across the Nevada border. Reno is famous for its selection of casinos and bars, and its thriving nightlife.
Truckee is centrally located between Tahoe National Forest and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Both parks offer excellent opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, and viewing wildlife. In the winter, both parks provide slopes and trails for cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and sledding or tubing.
In Tahoe National Forest, there are several lakes where guests can swim, sail, kayak, paddleboard, and ride jet-skis. Sections of the American, Truckee, and Yuba Rivers run through the park, so guests can go whitewater rafting as well. Additionally, guests can go horseback riding, climbing, and mountain biking. Guests with valid state licenses are allowed to hunt within the park.
