Newport

If you’re looking for a spot of peace and quiet, the charming city of Newport might be just the place. Located in the heart of Pend Oreille County, Washington, the town is surrounded by rolling green hills and sits on the bank of the Pend Oreille River, right on the Washington-Idaho state line. Hiking enthusiasts should head to nearby Upper Wolf Trail System, which is just slightly north of town, or consider planning a bigger trip to Colville National Forest, the center of which can be found roughly an hour and a half away from Newport.
