Accommodation Description

· Kid-friendly · Private Barbecue

This beachside luxury cabin rental is located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington and features two beautiful bedrooms with queen-size beds and gorgeous views of the water. There is also a queen-size futon bed in a separate living area upstairs.

The master bedroom is on the main floor and has a master bathroom and large walk-in closet. The second bedroom is upstairs and has a full bathroom right beside it. The upstairs loft has a queen-size futon bed for additional guests and is in close proximity to the upstairs bathroom. There are also four sleeping bags available for children or overflow guests.

On the main floor, the gourmet kitchen and dining area feature cherry wood cabinets, Corian countertops, top-of-the-line appliances, and a slate floor. Nearby, there is a stereo system with am/fm radio and CD player with a selection of classical CD's. The woodstove insert is in the living room area, and we keep plenty of dry firewood and kindling stored up for your use and enjoyment.

There are two flat-screen TV's in the house. One is in the master bedroom downstairs, and the other is upstairs in the loft sitting area. There is a DVD player connected to the upstairs TV, if you would like to watch your own movies. Both televisions are connected to a cable service, which also supplies our wireless internet access, for those who bring their laptop computers.

There is an unobstructed view of the Olympic Mountains looking south through the kitchen window. When you stand in the living room looking north over the bay and straits at high tide, you get the feeling that you are in the pilot house of a large ship moving through the water, as the beach practically disappears. At low tide the tidelands may go out nearly a half mile.

The living room also opens out onto a scenic deck overlooking Dungeness Bay. It has outdoor furniture and a gas barbeque for your grilled culinary delights. If you take the steps down to the small back yard, you only have to go about 20 feet and over the breakwater rocks and you are on the beach! Read More

This area of Dungeness Bay and Dungeness Spit features some of the best birding on the Olympic Peninsula. Many waterfowl can be seen on and around the salt water on the north side of the house. The marshes on the south side of the house host a wide variety of birds as well. However, the property has recently been purchased by a private hunting club, so on a few days in the fall, renters may see some duck hunting in action. The large and graceful Arctic Tundra Swans also visit the area in the winter, before heading back north in the warmer months.

The local Audubon Center has tours available to local bird observation points, and seasonally they host boat cruises to nearby Protection Island where guests can view myriads of birds at the Zella M. Schultz bird sanctuary as well as many harbor seals which raise their pups on the beaches of the island. For the really adventurous, the owners can advise guests on the best way to tour around Protection Island by kayak. Those who love kayaking, this is an ideal location for launching and exploring the Dungeness Bay area, including kayak trips to the Dungeness Lighthouse.

Bicycling is also a great way to explore the scenic and historical sites in the area, so guests are advised to bring their bicycles and explore the mostly-flat, back roads of the Sequim-Dungeness valley. There are several excellent golf courses in the Sequim area, so if guests like to golf, this is a great place to bring their clubs and enjoy the beautiful fairways of the golf courses here.

Depending on the tides and seasons, glampers can dig for clams or catch some of the famous Dungeness crabs, for an unbeatable fresh seafood experience. Local shellfish licenses for gatherers are available nearby as well.
