This beautiful, pet-friendly cottage along the Columbia River Gorge in Washougal, Washington, is perfect for a relaxing getaway surrounded by stunning nature. Nestled in woodland filled with 300-year-old Douglas firs and Western cedars, this one-bedroom cottage is ideal for couples but comfortably accommodates up to four guests. The bedroom features a custom-built queen-size log bed with a cozy down comforter and matching pillows, plus a TV with a DVD player. The cottage also has a futon and a sofa bed for extra sleeping spaces. The bathroom features a large river-rock shower and a refreshing view of the isolated forest.
The focal point of the rustic living room is the grand stone hearth with a wood-burning fireplace. Firewood is provided by the host. Guests can settle down on the comfy furniture and enjoy the warmth of the flames while watching a DVD on the flat-screen TV. Unbelievable forest and river views can be admired from the antique windows and guests can curl up with a good book in the reading nook or the den.
The fully equipped kitchen features wall-to-wall windows and all of the necessary major appliances to whip up a home-cooked meal. Guests can eat at the dining table with seating for four overlooking the forest. Out on the covered porch, there's a gas grill, so guests can have a BBQ and enjoy meals al fresco on the outdoor furniture. After sharing a tasty meal, guests can head out to the deck, slip into the private hot tub, and enjoy the serenity of the surrounding greenery.

Right across from the property, guests can jump into the swimming hole and even hop in a kayak or a canoe to watch the salmon swimming upriver to the hatchery. Guests have access to the private beach, shared with guests at a nearby lodge. There are plenty of hiking trails through the forest right on the property. Guests can hike up one of the trails with flotation devices and calmly drift back home. There is plenty of wildlife just outside the door and guests are likely to see deer, birds, ducks, geese, and even eagles, heron, and hawks. Guests can head to the Washougal River or the Columbia River to go boating, fishing, whitewater rafting, and more. There is even skiing nearby for winter guests. Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge is well worth a visit, and guests can also visit sites like Cape Horn Overlook, local parks, and museums. Just a short trip away in Washougal, there are supermarkets and drugstores for purchasing the basics, and several welcoming bars for guests who want to sit down and take a load off. For a city day trip, guests can make the drive up to Seattle, or visit Vancouver or Portland, Oregon, even closer to home.
