This beachfront cottage rental is located on Dauphin Island, Alabama, and can accommodate eight guests for relaxing getaway to the Gulf of Mexico. It has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Recently remodeled and featuring new furnishings and appliances throughout its interior, the cottage provides guests with three full-size beds and one queen-size bed in total, with one of each bed per bedroom. Two of the bedrooms feature sliding glass doors through which guests can access the cottage's deck and enjoy views of the Gulf, and one of them is also equipped with its own flatscreen television. One of the bathrooms is fitted with a shower, while the other one contains a combination bathtub/shower. Linens and towels are provided.

In the living room, guests will find a sofa, a loveseat with cup holders, and a pair of sofa chairs arranged around a glass coffee table, a flatscreen television, and windows and sliding glass doors leading to the deck and looking out to the Gulf. The dining area seats four, with additional seating at the adjacent breakfast bar. The fully-equipped kitchen comes with an oven, a stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a blender, a toaster, and a coffeemaker.

At high tide, the waves of the Gulf of Mexico splash directly below its deck, and guests can enjoy views of the Gulf from almost every room of the cottage. Natural highlights of the island include the Audubon Bird Sanctuary, which encompasses 164 acres of woodlands laced with walking trails and filled with pines, live oaks, and magnolias, as well as a swamp, marshes, dunes, and Gulf beaches.

As its name suggests, the sanctuary is a prime spot for birdwatching, with 420 species having been documented in its boundaries to date. Other points of interest on the island include the historic Fort Gaines, which was built in 1821 and played an important role in the Battle of Mobile Bay during the Civil War.

To date, 420 species of birds have been documented in the sanctuary; with a birding checklist and trail map from the sanctuary in hand, guests can try to see how many of these 420 species they can identify.
