The Ouachita River is well known for its year-round fishing. Bigger fish come from the lake to spawn in late February and March. Smallmouth bass are the most abundant, but there are also catfish, largemouth bass, stripers, perch, and crappie in the river. There are also a number of nearby mountain ponds that are stocked and maintained by the Ouachita National Forest Service. The cabin borders Ouachita National Forest with easy access to over 700 miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking, ATV's, interpretive, and equestrian. The popular Womble Trail is a 38-mile single track trail, while the Ouachita Trail has challenging terrain and ascents to many mountain tops. Rock climbing is also available nearby at the Fiddlers Rock.
After all of these adventures, guests can enjoy a relaxing spa day in nearby Hot Springs. They can rent canoes, kayaks, or river tubes on site for a fun-filled river trip. The recreation area includes swimming, fishing, volleyball, basketball, tetherball, Bocce ball, rope swings, and horseshoes.
