Bogue Chitto State Park Tent Site for a Louisiana Weekend Getaway
Franklinton | Washington Parish
This campsite is located at the trailhead of the Mountain Bike Trail in the southwest of the park, in a beautifully wooded area. This site is ideal for the adventure enthusiasts as it is right on the mountain bike trailhead, the disc golf area, and sits near an equestrian trail.
The state park is located off Louisiana State Highway 25 south of Franklinton, in Washington Parish.
Bogue Chitto State Park has a visitors center, a conference room, picnic pavilions, and a lodge overlooking a 90-foot (27 m) bluff. There is a canoe and tubing launch into the Bogue Chitto River, fishing piers, an amphitheater, and a water playground. The site contains eleven lakes stocked with freshwater fish. There are more than 7 miles (11 km) of nature trails and 14 miles (23 km) of equestrian trails. Bogue Chitto is also home to a beautiful, moderately difficult 9 hole disc golf course, winding through hilly wooded terrain. In addition, a new mountain bike trail is opening April 10 and will feature climbs, descents, switchbacks, and a Big Zephyr.
The site is approximately 1.5 mile drive, driven all on paved and gravel road from the main entrance. This site cannot accommodate an RV due to its location and the size of parking. From your parking spot, there is about a 1/4 mile . On the deck of your tent, there is one other site visible, but don't worry! The other site is about 30 feet away, so you still have privacy. At the campsite, you can enjoy partial shade, with little service coverage allowing you to unplug, but also keep in contact if needed. We recommend looking out for alligators around the water. Keep a close eye on small children and pets!
