Franklinton | Washington Parish

This campsite is located at the southeast of the park directly beside the Bogue Chitto river. It is approximately a 6 minute walk down the Discovery Nature Trail. Perfect for the campers wanting a quiet camping trip with quick access to the trails. Sitting in your chairs, you will hear birds chirping and the sound of the river flowing below you.

The state park is located off Louisiana State Highway 25 south of Franklinton, in Washington Parish.

Bogue Chitto State Park has a visitors center, a conference room, picnic pavilions, and a lodge overlooking a 90-foot (27 m) bluff. There is a canoe and tubing launch into the Bogue Chitto River, fishing piers, an amphitheater, and a water playground. The site contains eleven lakes stocked with freshwater fish. There are more than 7 miles (11 km) of nature trails and 14 miles (23 km) of equestrian trails. Bogue Chitto is also home to a beautiful, moderately difficult 9 hole disc golf course, winding through hilly wooded terrain. In addition, a new mountain bike trail is opening April 10 and will feature climbs, descents, switchbacks, and a Big Zephyr.

The site is approximately 3 miles from the entrance, driven all on paved and gravel road. This site cannot accommodate an RV due to its location and the size of parking. From your parking spot, the tent is about a 10 minute walk so make sure to pack accordingly! On the deck of your tent, there is one other site visible, but don't worry! The other site is about 20 feet away. At the campsite, you can enjoy partial shade, with no service coverage allowing you to unplug and enjoy all that the park has to offer! We recommend looking out for alligators around the water. Keep a close eye on small children and pets!

The Space:
Beautiful State Park with river, ponds, trails, and more

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While the host does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property.

If a Camp Guide submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, the host reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Other Things to Note:
Be sure to bring your own food, firewood, and bedding. Also, consider bringing a wagon or something similar to assist with bringing your belongs to the tent. There are no electricity or water hookups available at your site. Anything you pack in, you must pack out. This is "leave no trace" camping. All trash MUST be deposited in a designated receptacle at the end of your stay. If you do not follow this rule, you will be charged a cleaning fee. Have a wonderful stay!
