Central Mississippi is also a wonderful place to explore, from eating out in one of the local restaurants in nearby Sebastopol, Walnut Grove, or Harperville, to heading into Bienville National Forest for a hike or some great fishing around Marathon Lake. The national forest also offers horseback riding on one of the many trails winding throughout its 178,000 acres. The city of Jackson, which is just under 60 miles away, is also a wonderful hub for learning about the history of Mississippi, either on one of the city's many heritage tours or in the informative Old Capital Museum. Jackson also offers a bustling and diverse range of restaurants, bars, and music venues for guests' enjoyment at night.
