- We do our best to provide a worry-free and wonderful stay. Please understand there are things that we cannot control, such as weather, fire bans issued by local authorities to prevent forest fires, sounds from the surrounding areas, animal or insect encounters that may occur on or in property, utilities (eg. internet, water, electricity), and other scenarios. The cabin is in the forest/woods and in a rural area. Living creatures are free roaming. You may event spot deer on property!
The Broken Bow and Hochatown areas are magically. We enjoy the easy drive to get to a clear lake and be in the forest with mountains. This is our retreat away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives and living near a big city. We also own a sister property, that sleeps up to 4 people just up the street from this cabin. We are a small family business with just these two vacation rental cabins. The best thing about being a host is hearing guests who made wonderful memories at our cabins. Both Aiukli Cabins are a work of love and a place of love for us. There is nothing better than to spend quality time with our family at the cabin. Back at home in the Dallas area, I still hear the sounds of my children's laughter echoing from the fun we've had and the memories will last me a lifetime.
There are a few things that drew us to this cabin. 1) This cabin has a rustic charm that we didn't see in the other cabins. 2) We liked that this street is among the very small percentage of paved streets in the area-- if you have been to the area before, you know that many of the dirt or rocky roads can be difficult to drive, filled with pot holes or large rocks, and even damage your car. A few of the paved roads even flood with heavy rain, so it was especially important to us to know the neighborhoods that can get trapped with no way out or in when this happens. The paved roads to this cabin and our sister cabin (Aiukli Creek View Cabin) do NOT flood so we/you don't have to spend precious vacation time waiting for the water to recede. 3) We are also very aware that we are in the forest, so our cabins are located where there are multiple exits from the neighborhood in case of a forest fire, as well as on being located on a road that emergency service vehicles can actually drive on. We were adamant about picking a location that would be safe for us and our guests.
Our location in Timber Creek Trails neighborhood gives you easy access to restaurants, tasting rooms, and shops on the corner of Lukfata Trail (all within walking distance), without having to cross or get on highway 259— a great way to avoid the heavy traffic that can happen during peak seasons and weekends. When your route to the cabin takes you on Lukfata Trail from highway 259, your entire drive to the cabin's driveway is paved— you avoid dirt, rocky roads that can damage your car or steep rock roads that your car may not be able to drive up/down. The cabin is smartly located where the roads don't flood with rain— you won’t be trapped in or out of the cabin's area after it rains because no one wants to wait for the rain to recede while you are on vacation. Broken Bow Lake, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, covers 14,000 acres in southeastern Oklahoma. The lake’s 180-mile rocky shoreline borders the Ouachita National Forest and Kiamichi Mountains. Two state parks, Beavers Bend and Hochatown, provide guests with access to trophy fishing on the lake, hiking and biking. Only 1-2 miles to Beavers Bend State Park, 4 miles to Beavers Bend Marina, and just under 6 miles to the Ouachita National Forest Visitor's Station.
There is so much to do in Hochatown (aka Broken Bow)! Broken Bow lake is so much fun for boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, UTV / ATV, or just catching some sun. Go tubing down Mountain Fork river, or learn to fly fish! Take a hike in Beavers Bend State Park. Visit one of the numerous local wineries. Eat at one of the many delicious restaurants! Or stay in and enjoythe cabin's plentiful amenities!
