Ducktown

Located in a broad valley, and within sight of the crests and forested slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ducktown, Tennessee, makes a good base from which to explore the natural splendor of the surrounding region. Those wishing to explore the landscape can take a train from nearby Copperhill and travel along scenic railroads to the Gee Creek Wilderness area in the Cherokee Forest or the town of Blue Ridge, Georgia on the other side of the state border, passing through some truly epic montane scenery in the process. River sports enthusiasts will wish to check out the Ocoee River, venue for the white-water stages of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, and with the dense woods, mountain vistas, and varied wildlife of the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park all within range, hikers, mountain-bikers, and wildlife lovers will be spoiled for choice.
