Guests can hike, mountain bike, and climb on any of the trails that spread throughout the parks, including the Appalachian Trail which extends from north to south on the East Coast. Glampers can also take kayaks or canoes to the Doe River for a tranquil paddle downstream, or head an hour north to Watauga Lake to boat and swim in a larger body of water. The area is also ripe with the history of the Cherokee Tribe and American Revolution, so there are a number of heritage sites to visit for those who want to delve into the region’s past. In Johnson City, guests will find plenty of restaurants and breweries to try, as well as a walking tour of the city and a few historic museums.
