Abilene

Abilene, Texas is a big city in the western part of the state. It was established in 1881 by cattlemen as a stock shipping point. Only 150 miles west of Fort Worth, it’s close to a major international airport, perfect for glampers flying in from out of state. There are 29 local parks to explore, as well as many places outside the city limits. To the south is Oak Creek Reservoir, and a larger area is Lake EV Spence, a reservoir on the Colorado River. Between these places, you can go tubing, rafting, boating, swimming, wakeboarding, fishing and more. With the humid subtropical climate, you’ll want to prioritize finding a body of water to be near so you can easily cool off. Lytle Lake, Lake Fort Phantom Hill, and Kirby Lake are all located within the city. Make Abilene, Texas your next glamping destination.
