Driftwood

The small town of Driftwood, Texas saw its first white settlers as early as the 1850s, but it wasn’t fully established as a town until the 1880s. Onion Creek flows through the town, providing a nice spot to cool off in the summertime heat. The Pedernales Falls State Park lies to the northwest of the town. The 5,200 acre park offers several trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Jump into the Pedernales River and enjoy the scenic vistas and several waterfalls. Further north is the Colorado River, where intrepid white water rafters can spend their day. Not far from Austin, Driftwood makes for a great weekend escape from the city, and is also easy to access by those flying in from out of state.
