Only 20 miles outside of downtown Austin, Dripping Springs is almost like the gateway to Texas Hill Country. Contrasting Austin’s chic city atmosphere, the surrounding 14,000 square miles of Texas Hill Country make Austin and its suburbs a great place for a glamping getaway. Historic towns like Wimberley or Fredericksburg, dozens of vineyards, green meadows and state parks, with a laidback, soulful attitude make Hill Country a place worth exploring. In Fredericksburg, guests can catch their breath and enjoy the splendid 360-degree views atop Enchanted Rock. After their hike, it’s a spectacular place to relax before heading back down, maybe even to enjoy a picnic. Alternatively, Mount Baldy and the Cypress Creek Trail are two places perfect for a day hike with the family.
After a hike, guests can head over to Jacob’s Well and take a dip with the locals in the swimming hole’s crystal blue waters. A summertime favorite of Texans and guests alike is a day floating down the Guadalupe River. There are many dynamic companies in New Braunfels that can organize a day of inner tubes and floating down the river, even with a tube for a cooler if guests like. If guests are looking for more, they should head over to the McKinney Falls State Park. Here guests can spend a day fishing, hiking, boating, or even hunting if it suits their fancy. On the banks of Onion Creek, as the water flows over the limestone ledges, guests can enjoy a picnic and the fresh, Hill Country air, before continuing on their hike or fishing adventure.
