Fredericksburg has an old town charm with so much to do and see both in the town and out in the rolling green meadows, woodlands, and rivers and creeks that characterize the landscape. Guests may like to start their morning at the Fredericksburg Farmer's Market and pick up a few things for a picnic, then head out to hike the Willow Canyon Loop. This 13-mile trail winds its way through the hills, creeks, meadows, valleys, and canyons of the area and gives guests not only a beautiful place to stretch their legs, but also a better feel for the countryside they are visiting. Enchanted Rock is a different popular hiking destination in the area, where from atop guests can take in the spectacular 360-degree views of Hill Country.
Another day guests might be in the mood for a bit of history and decide to check out the Pioneer Museum Complex or the Vereins Kirche Museum to understand a little bit better the culture of this part of Texas. After dining at one of Main Streets restaurants, guests can head to Wildseed Farms. Acres of local flowers like Indian Blanket, Laura Bush Petunias, Purple Coneflower, and Bluebonnets cover the land among which guests can relax with a beer at the on-site Brewbonnet Biergarten.
Once summer arrives and guests are looking to escape the heat, kayaking, canoeing, and rafting on the Pedernales River or Guadalupe River (or one of the many creeks) is the perfect recipe for a humid summer afternoon. Fredericksburg is surrounded by many swimming holes, whose turquoise blue waters attract locals and tourists alike on a hot summer day. Spots like Hamilton Pool, Deep Eddy, Barton Springs, and Jacob's Well are always a good choice. Another afternoon couples may like to visit several of the wineries and vineyards in the area, on the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. Other couples may prefer something with a little more action, and in that case, they should check out the Wimberley Zipline. However guests choose to spend their days, nothing beats coming back and relaxing in the hot tub while admiring the starry night sky.
