For hiking, they can venture out on the 20-mile-long Four C National Recreation Trail, which winds through woodlands composed of oaks, hickories, sweet gums, willows, shortleaf pines, and loblolly pines.

Guests can also explore the forest by horseback on the 53-mile-long Piney Creek Horse Trail. While exploring the trails, guests can keep an eye out for the forest's wildlife and birds, which include deer, turkey, and the endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers.
