Malakoff

Named after the Russian Fort of Malakoff which was used during the Crimean War is Malakoff, Texas in the eastern part of the state. After coal was discovered in the 1920s, population grew and mining became an important activity. The climate here is humid subtropical, meaning summers can be extremely hot and humid. Always make sure you drink plenty of water, and be sure to find a good body of water to cool off in. Just to the north lies Cedar Creek Reservoir where you can rent a boat and go cruising around the area, or bring along fishing poles and find some bass for dinner.
