Palacios

The area where Palacios, Texas now lies was originally inhabited by the Karankawa people. Spanish expeditions first arrived in the 16th century, and then English-speaking settlers arrived in the 1820’s, effectively pushing out the native people. Today, Palacios is a huge shrimping port with about 400 boats. Visitors can also go fishing, boating, and bird watching along the waterfront and the pier.
