Prosper
A growing city in northeast Texas, Prosper still holds on to its small town charm. Drawn by the black fertile soil, the first settlers arrived in 1846 to grow cotton. Town members celebrate an annual Christmas Festival, Fourth of July event, and historic celebration in May. To beat the heat in the hot, humid summer months, head to Lake Ray Roberts. Go swimming, paddleboarding, or canoeing. Ray Roberts Lake State Park has heavily wooded hiking and equestrian trails around the lake, along with a marina for boating. South west is Lewisville Lake, another great place to cool off. Wynnwood Park offers a scenic wetlands and a short walking trail. LLELA Nature Preserve has more hiking, kayaking, and fishing for visitors. For a relaxed, remote glamping excursion, head to Prosper, Texas.
