DeLand

DeLand was founded in 1876 and is home to Stetson University, Florida's oldest college. This historical town seems almost like New England at times, with its red-brick buildings, Greco-Roman columns and statuesque oaks. The fascinating Stetson Mansion, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is an intriguing blend of Gothic, Tudor, Moorish and Polynesian details. Whilst you're here, check out the De Leon Springs State Park.
, where you can take a dip 25 feet down to the mouth of the springs. The more adventurous can canoe or kayak down the Spring Garden Run beside the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, which is filled with local wildlife. It is also close to Hontoon Island State Park and Blue Springs State Park, where glampers can see endangered Manatees.
